Well there goes my Survivor title...
Kodonur Crossroads.
285,016 XP into the title.
Lag spike, which was NOT caused by my internet connection.
Thanks ArenaNet
There goes about 40 hours of work I put into this character this week. I feel so "blah..." right now that I don't want to play Guild Wars anymore.
EDIT: Exaggeration... right... here's proof.
RIP my dear Ranger

40 hours for 285,016 exp? I think you're exaggerating a little bit. Did you start over multiple times?
I've lost my survivor title track several times because of lag/bad teams, and I got over it within seconds. If that's all that was keeping you in GW, then maybe you should set some different goals for yourself.

That's the reason the upper echelons of the Survivor title are so hard to achieve...
Not only are you fighting the enemies, you are fighting the game itself.
Time to reroll and try again. Being saddened (on the verge of quitting) because of this loss is definitely not the way to go - you'll appreciate actually getting that title when you achieve it all the more now that you've experienced this loss.

I'm sorry to hear about your character. I had a ranger that I *loved* playing and had a great time with that died due to lag at about a million. I'm still a little sad that she never made it, but I worked though the "i'm quitting and deleting everything" phase in about 24 hours and then got back to work on the next survivor.
(and eventually even got one)
Edit: One thing that helped me was playing as if I had heavy lag all the time. Basically never getting into situations where the henchies were getting beat, never running places, never overextending - even vs. easy enemies. This is tedious so a compromise is to do all the high-risk stuff first, then go into turtle mode as the XP total starts to climb.

My MM is the only one who has achieved Survivor (1) so far with a lot of careful play (minions help immensely!) - no mapping out - and henches. It wasn't until she finally went out with a PuG that she died -- because one of the monks literally was standing around doing absolutely nothing except whining we were taking so long.
Well, sorry, dude, a few heals would have sped things up just a little more than us all taking dirt naps.......
(I was SO incredibly pissed off she lost the 2nd tier of Survivor by such rampant stupidity, but got over it. Instead of finishing Factions, she's decided to conquer, ummm, save Elona )

I had a survivor ranger too, died right after getting lvl 1 title. Deleted her because I realized how much limits that title has put on my game play.

I feel your pain. My boyfriend's survivor ranger died over halfway past the second tier. It was because he rushed forward and did Eternal Grove with people he didn't know and without me to monk support him, because he wanted to take advantage of the double experience for skill captures event in the armory. No fun. He lag died, too.
But I really think that being a successful survivor makes for better gameplay all around. It makes you comfortable being able to do damage and still stay alive on your own. We took his survivor ranger and turned it into a chest runner, and now it's his favorite character.

This is why I dont bother with the Survivor title. Anything that depends so much on how stable a connection is, is just going to be a pain....

No pain no gain?
Playing a survivor is _the_ ultimate PvE experience. The price of failure is high, but with determination you'll make it eventually. I'm not defending lag-deaths, they do suck and perhaps Anet could DC people sooner instead of making them camp in limbo while foes 'kill' them.
But don't try it if you know your own connection is unstable.

Risk of lag death can be reduced by playing carefully. Imagine that you could lag out at any time, don't put yourself in a position where 30s of lag will actually make a real difference. Play slower. Use 3 monks instead of 2. Bring more defense - shouts, wards, interrupts, etc. You want to make sure that, as often as possible, your team can handle things without you.
If you're going for survivor, play like you mean it.

Unfortunately, what with us being humans and all, we can't just be happy when there's more to acheive.

Hardcore mode in Diablo 2 is the ultimate PvE Experience. Perhaps A.net should offer those truly maddened individuals an option such as that?

QFT. I had several HCL sorcs. Honestly, it's one of the things that kept me playing D2 for ages. (The Hardcore Ladder, that is. Regular Hardcore non-ladder....what's the point?)

This has absolutely nothing to do with the game and isn't a suggestion or a topic at all. Its just a guy whining and ticked that he got "screwed." Close please.
